Catkins Animal Rescue, recently broke ground for a new and expanded shelter facility. This exciting project represents a major step forward in the organization’s mission to provide safety, care, and second chances to stray, abandoned, neglected, and surrendered animals throughout Price County.
In 2024 alone, Catkins successfully placed more than 410 animals into loving homes. But with this success comes a pressing challenge: the current shelter is no longer large enough to meet the growing need for animal care in the region. The upcoming facility, with an estimated cost of $628,500, will transform Catkin’s capacity to serve both animals and the community. Key features of the new shelter will include:
• 16 spacious kennels with outdoor access for dogs
• An expanded cat adoption center to give more cats the safety and space they deserve
• A dedicated quarantine area for vulnerable animals needing specialized care
• Upgraded security features to ensure safety for animals and staff
• A welcoming meet-and-greet area where families can connect with their future pets
• Improved food and medication storage to support high-quality care

The Catkins Animal Rescue organization is extremely grateful to have the facility they
currently utilize. However, they have outgrown the facility, and it unfortunately does not allow for an expansion. The current facility will still be greatly utilized, just in a different way. And the new facility will allow Catkins to give more of the county’s animals the care they deserve.
